If there was no way of climbing over or if the customer has made it clear that they don't want you to climb over then I think you should have just done the front and left a note explaining why you didn't do the back.  You could then either put half of the monet back (either through the letter box or leave it in the porch if they have one) or if that is too much trouble then just say on the note that you will do it all for half price next time.

I wouldnt even attempt to climb over, its the customers reponsibility for you to gain access to their property. If you cant access the property without causing damage to yourself or the property then leave well alone and leave a note explaining the reason.

.Agree with windymiller it’s there responsibly leave access, I would not charge less as you have arrived as agreed and they have let you down. It cost you to get there. Try that with some other service industry e.g. plumber and see you will pay. Why should we loose for the custys mistake. Leave a letter end explain why back was not cleaned.

Dont go back after you have cleaned the front, leave the rear until the next time if you cant access the rear to clean the back. if the customer asks why tell them the reason. Time is Money. Customers dont realise this and are only bothered about having windows cleaned.
You are running a business and not a charity. The customers need educating on this.
Can you not contact the customers via text the evening before asking to leave the gate open for you.
