my wyvale upright 400 leaks really bad on the way to my first house. I just ignore it now but it would be nice to get  it sorted

Right. I've put some ptfe tape on the thread (almost the whole roll) and tightened it will all my strength. Let's see what happens tomorrow.

i tighten the lid by hand then use a old screw driver and hammer to tap( against the ridges on lid) to tighten it further. 5 /6 gentle taps stops mine leaking.

dont fill it up. my 650ibc doesnt leak. and i only turn the lid till it just bites. but its never full to the top

a tank designed to carry water should not leak as it is meant to be filled up ::)

Please keep the ways you have cured your tanks from leaking though, because I am going to be talking to them monday/tuesday.

i tried to silicone the o ring into the lid yesterday to help create a  better seal,
 guess what ??? it still leaks  >:(

Try puting a strong plastic on then scewing the lid on top of the bag make a few small holes in the bag under the lid this has worked in other applications before

A lot of car valeters use these type of tanks (I used one for years myself) and have the same problem, I've bought tanks from several different places but these black lids always leak.  It seems when tight it's tight because the cap is touching the tank, not because the rubber o-ring has sealed - then leaks.  The vent in the middle is S shaped and doesn't let water out, just the threads/cap seal.
I currently trad clean,  but will be getting a tank again soon, and like the pictured solution of glueing in shut permanently.
