Not during winter customers have made themselves known
« on: September 28, 2009, 07:58:06 am »
Just had my second one text this morning saying they don't want their windows cleaned during winter.

Anyone else come across these yet ?

To be honest I'm glad as I can get customers who want a regular service.
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

Not yet.. but my prices are going up January to all new customers, so they will find their "regular" price going up if they want back next year.

I took on one this summer, who then said come the winter I wont be needing it, so i dropped them after their second clean.

I dont mind them reducing it to 8 weekly for instance, as the nights draw in and the mornings are darker its easier to fit them in.. Thats why you should save during the summer months on all extra services, to provide during the winter.

If i get asked for this, I don't chase the job up in the Spring.  If they phone, I might re-quote as if doing a one-off each time as they can't be relied upon - that's if I bother at all.  Usually, I just quietly let the job go.  With the shorter days and some late starts due to freeze-ups, they get a less frequent service from me anyway.

whats the big deal that a few dont want a clean during the winter months, just adjust your records and just charge an initial clean price when they re-start. Some of my customers that dont require a clean during the winter have their gutters/fascias/con roofs done religiously once a year so from a business point of view it would be foolish to ditch them ,as over the year i recieve more income than some of my more regular customers. The other thing to think of is ,that if you are more accomodating they will say good things about you - the last thing any business wants is people bad mouthing them.

dont be daft  - most people these days dont know the names of their next door neighbours never mind the rest of the street

I have no problem with customers who don't want them cleaned during the winter months providing that they've made this known from the start of our relationship.

Customers who miff me are the ones where you show up and they then say: "Can we leave it until the Spring."

These people are uncaring and always get the old tin-tack with me.

Unless they are holiday homes Apr-Sept I drop summer only customers and replace with regular yearly work. Don't need customers dictating my work hours ;D
