Use SAE's Cant see the point in going out to collect. Its all about training your customers to send you the payment, if they dont pay before there due again they dont get cleaned for another month. Your get your payment on time then once they have missed a months clean.

Justin

Ps Just going to eat my dinner and feet up with a beer after :)

Thanks, Justin; but some of my tight customers would love me to miss them every other month!

It'd just be encouraging them not to pay!

I do need a better system than this though.  I tried cheques once before; maybe I'll give them another go in the not too far off future.

Gazza, mate, don't take this the wrong way; but ever since you've gotten a water fed pole your posts seem to have improved to the level where I can actually understand what you're going on about.

Is this a coincidence?

Anyway, there's probably some good advice in there.

I like collecting because I can accurately gauge my income.

I don't like collecting because it's a pain, and sometimes I like to finish early on a Friday and go for a couple of beers - impossible if you're out later; knocking on doors.

Financially, I picked up enough this week, as many customers were in, to keep me happy and collecting was more of a bonus; but other weeks I need the cash/cheques now!

This evening I knocked on 35 houses (just counted it up) and received all my money apart from eight houses.  I leave a chit saying I'll call on them tomorrow morning and I'll probably get most of the rest.  So my cash flow is pretty good.

I've been considering employing someone to collect for me; and adding on a collection charge; but I've got to develop the idea a little more yet.

i leave a note to say "cleaned your windows, you were out, we will either catch you next time for payment or please pay online or send a cheque"

this way, every day a couple of cheques arrive, sue the first 2 months was a little harsh, they didnt bother, BUT then they got the hang of it and now i get money all the time from the postman :)

keep at it, as i said, the first 2 months was harsh, but i got by on what i collected in the days

Hi windows ,

why not offer a  50p discount for payment  within  7 days by s.a.e. envelopes. Obviously put your prices up by 50p first though

Cheers Mark.
