Does anyone think Data base marketing is worth doing?

I mean many cusotmers come back to me anyway (those that want to! ;D)

Has anyone recently started sending letters to customers that have used you before and whats the response like?

or is it alot of effort for little return?

thanks Marc.

Mark:

You'll find a lot of ccs on here keep a database. It's a sure fire way to grow your business and develop your brand name further.

For example I send a postcard to all (Satisfied  :-\) customers every 6 months after I've cleaned for them. In that postcard I will remind them of who I am, what special offers they can avail of and if I've bought any new equipment I tell them what it does and how it can help me to help them.

Always keep a customer database mate. Remember it's not just about getting the job there and then straight after you've sent your postcard/newsletter,...it's also about brand awareness and getting them to think of you first when they (or their friends/relatives) want their soft furnishings cleaned. This could be straight away or it could be years down the line.

Always plan for the future

I went to hear Robert Sauders speak on his perfect home plan blurb. I did try a few things he said just to see if they worked like he said. He claimed that you got a 6% response from recall letters sent to everyone on your database, including ones you went to years ago. I did it and got a 6% response, some people ignor them and come back later anyway. Its definately worth doing and helps if work is slow.

Well done with  6% response

Was this with Free Room Letter.  If so was it the first letter.  How did you get on with second, and third.

This is definitely something I need to do at some point.  What do you tend to use; an actual database in access or just a list of addresses in word or excel?

Ian,

It was just one single letter to only about 250 people. It did have an offer on it something like have your suite cleaned and carpet cleaned for nothing. I did not carry out the second and third stages although a chap from chem dry had done and said it increased sales. I would say that the big ball acher is if you actually send them through the post, takes quite alot of time. I think possibly the best thing to do is to send maybe 5-10 a week every week with a genuine offer on it, or even a letter to say you now offer additional services- tile cleaning etc.
It should be part of your marketing tactics but is easily forgotton about when you get busy.

Good you have had an excellent response with what I call a normal offer.

Agree about doing a few a week

We have just designed a New Data Base  system

The biggest problem is inputting the Data

Guess its down to displine.

Better to be inputting data that looking for the next BIG THING ON HERE
