« on: April 29, 2009, 10:56:13 pm »
did a first clean 2 weeks ago ,when i arrived i noticed on all the ground floor windows round the back including the patio doors and all the frames there was what looked like small speckles of red paint splashed everywere,i quoted £8 as per normal for this type of house over the phone(i do a couple of houses in the same row so knew what to charge)after scrubbing and scrubbing with wfp i couldnt shift this stuff at all,so just cleaned windows and frames as normal and left the speckles and then left a sae as normal for a cheque to be sent, still havent recieved payment and am thinking did the custie expect all this paint cleaned off ,and should i have made sure it was all cleaned off what do you guys think and as anyone else came across this? ??? ???

don't sweat it, they may just have forgotten.
I would just leave it till you go back, put a invoice through for the two cleans, but print up a card asking for payment to be made within two weeks.
go on to a cleaning site and get a window scraper. if they say anything about the paint. just tell them that it is not normal dirt and it takes a few cleans and that you can't guarentee all the paint will come off, but give it a going over for 2 or 3 visits then leave it. don't kill your self over £8 ;)

I never ever quote over the phone no one`s gonna tell you they`ve got a massive house with loads of windows and it`ll take a while to do.

I clean dirt from windows, if they have painted them that's their problem >:( on a good day I may have a go at it  ;) most wouldn't generally expect you to though.

i learned my lesson this week- phone call for a bed semi wanted cleaning as one off but this wasnt too strange as she was a asian lady and i get these calls regularly for one offs

i quoted 50 quid and she said - no no they are very dirty

i went out to look and ive never seen windows so bad - outside has never been cleaned

inside theres been a flood and massive water damage and then building work to put it right and they are a state - my quote went up a bit then :)

she wouldnt pat it anyway think i said 300 in the end :)

Make sure your T&C's exclude staining like paint, cement, water proofing spray etc.. You should only be cleaning dirt, air bourne stuff like tree sap, birds muck, pollon, flies etc.

If they want things like paint/cement removed, then you will need to use a scraper - as such it can be possible to scratch the window.. so ensure you get them to sign a scratch damage waiver!

I dont touch any windows with a scraper or other construction removal equipment/products without getting the customer to sign a waiver.
