Its a bit late now but you could have payed your January and July bill in monthly installment up untill October, see HMRC about paying Julys

You have to pay for next year if your tax bill is over £500 so not just 20% tax and 8% nay INS that doubles on any amount you make more than on the previouse year, it can be a right pain if you havnt saved it.
