« on: March 14, 2009, 09:33:48 am »
At any given time we  can all be carrying around £3/4 grand of kit in our vechiles so we would not want to leave our vechile unattended in case of breakdown with this in mind are we all covered by AA/RAC??

I'm with RAC apparently but it's only via my insurance broker (CVD) so I imagine it's pretty basic cover.  Must read those T & Cs sometime.

RAC

Now the usual Malcgold windbag in depth answer ;D:-

I got RAC thru' my broker for the family car then my van had a years AA from new. Then a motorbike had cover from new and another motorbike had broker cover.

As the new vehicles got to one year old they needed cover and the RAC offered cover for the person - whichever vehicle they are in as opposed to one vehicle.

So we have

1 van
1 family car
1 small car (daughter)
2 motorbikes

And me and my family are covered which ever vehicle they are driving or are a passenger in/on including other peoples. So if my youngest two (non-drivers) are in other peoples' vehicles they are covered.

Cheaper for us. The breakeven point comes at vehicle two/three. So that family cover is about £140 for five whereas £130 would cover two cars/vans/motorbikes.

It's a game of three halves!

AA

When the propshaft bearing went on my van on the M20, they got me home in good time. They had to call out a second vehicle, cos i couldn't be towed.
And I'm covered for the car too. Though at £90 it's a bit steep. But to get towed off the motorway costs a couple of 100!

Sign up through quidco though and you would get £40.00 back. The £90.00 becomes £50.00.
