I'm just off to do a survey for a 4 bed house. The guy's asking if I fumigate to kill fleas as they need a receipt to say it's been done. Will using the appropriate insecticide constitute to fumigation...? If not, how would you do it? Will I need a fogger etc?

I'd find out exactly what the problem is first.

"Fleas" may well be moths, Ive had customers mistaken in that way before.

It's a prerequisite for a "March Out" and they have been told that because they have cats it needs to be fumigated! I have looked in my box of goodies and found that I do have the insecticide by "Extracta" which covers 100 square metres.(

My next worry is how much to charge, I need to clean the carpets as normal then add on the price of applying the said insecticide (via spray) which costs me £10.50.

That throws a new light on the situation then!  If there actually isn't an identified infestation, all that's needed here is a little marketing spin

If you clean with colloids (e.g. m-power or nemesis) combined with thorough HWE you can legitimately claim you're using products and techniques proven to effectively eliminate these sorts of problems.  No extra hassle, expense or need for gas masks and white suits - just a decent price for the job.

P.S. Derek, maybe he was asking Colin to do a bit extr for "flea" ?

Make sure that the Insecticide breaks the egg cycle!

Sometimes you can kill those that have pupated, leave the eggs and then 6 weeks later it will be infested yet again.

Only breaking the egg cycle will eliminate them for good.
