You could try paying a visit to all of the Estate Agents in your area, I know they do that type of thing, having a window cleaner they can put on their own tender list may also lead on to other work.
I do some work for a local Estate Agent in this regard.......not that it has led to other such work though :-\
But then, I haven't actually thought of pushing that area.....perhaps I will ;)

Hi Shawn

You could ring around the local property management companies, look in yellow pages under property management. I have done similar, not for windows but for internal cleaning of buildings with communal areas. Get a name and send an introduction letter. Once they have got your details on file hopefully they will ask you to quote & if not successful the first time they may well keep you in mind for future if something new comes up.

If you have any friends/contacts in the commercial cleaning side ask them to bare you in mind too! I have sub-contracted out external window cleaning in the past. May be you could contact cleaning companies (particularily smaller ones) and do the same as above.

It would also be useful once they have received your details to follow up with a phone call.

Lots of luck

Maggie :)

I do a couple for a property management company.  They're okay; pay well (I charge for one of their houses £15.00; but for the house next door which is identical £10.00); but I do have to invoice them to get paid.

The company is called 'Select Properties' and they got my number from another local window cleaner (not from this forum) who knew I'd just started up.  He didn't want to clean in that area.

Now, I'm the main window cleaner around there!  From that one house that I cleaned for Select Properties.  So it was really saying 'Hello", to another helpful window cleaner which got me that area.

Like Ian said, try introducing yourself to the local estate agents and leave a handfull of business cards.  I'm also on a listing for 'usefull services' for one estate agent which they give to each house purchaser.

I haven't really received that much work from estate agents or the property management firm though.

Further to the above posts - especially Maggie 67 -  After you've sent the intro letter - about three working days later phone recipient and try to make an appointment to explain your services.

Put yourself in their position - what's the easiest thing to get rid of? A letter! The next easiest? A phone call. The hardest - a body - yours when you are sat in their office professionally explaining why you are the best thing in window cleaning sinced sliced bread.

So if you seriously want this kind of work you've got to send a letter, follow up with a phone call and try to get to see the person.

Break out your wedding suit, take in the flares (or let out the drainpipes) let out the waistband, throw away the waistcoat (remember them?)  (unkess you're texas girl in which case it appears she is getting younger and trimmer every year! ;D) clean your teeth and smile winningly (like chartermarque's avatar).

Bob's your mother's brother go to it!
It's a game of three halves!
