For those of you who employ and have multi van business how do you set up your insurance on each van?
At the moment I insure all vans on separate policies in my name then add the employee on as a named driver. This has been working out fine and has been cost effective (cheaper than fleet insurance) so all has been well.
Just before Christmas one of the vans hit in the side of another car whilst the employee was driving. I have now been told by my insurance company that my own insurance cost will be effected and so will my no claims bonus, even though I wasn't the driver at the time.
Have I had my vans insured incorrectly for all these years? Should I just insure the vans in the employees names and add myself as a named driver? Is this even legal with me being the registered owner of the vans?
What are you guys doing?
