Roo,
If the weather is so cold your water is freezing either in the brush head, or on the glass, then it would also be to cold to use trad methods too, as the water will freeze on the glass as you use your applicator.
The snow makes no difference, if it isn't freezing on the glass, it won't be freezing on the ground either.
I'm in the south of the country (Chepstow) and I haven't had the water freeze on me once so far this winter.
Don't know how some of the guys further north have fared? .........anyone?

Just soldier on, carry some road salt with you just in case it does start to freeze on the ground, but I don't think thats likely, you will have more problems with the water freezing on the brush or clogging up the jets if it is that cold.

Like you I am feeling my way with waterfed pole.

Ho ho thinks I in early Feb I'll put my waterbutt (Storage) outside next to the house, winters almost over won't freeze up here near Bristol.  -7 last night! coldest for 5 years around here!

Then Roy Harding puts a bat up my kilt by telling folk that purified water stored too long will have a higher TDS reading. So now I "brew" up the night before.

I did trad cleaning today on some old georgian frames (which I got six months ago when these customers refused to have another wfp guy anymore due to excess water!) between 10 am and 1.30pm and made just over £60 then took my dear old mummy for a drive up the Wye Valley to Monmouth and back.

But the old R/O is draining the local reservoir as we speak and its out with the trolley tomorrow.

So its horses for courses adapt and adapt and adapt.

Yup I'll still use my ladders when it suits me and I'll use the wfp when it suits me too.

All I know is is that despite learning about wfp and darting between new methods and old and having the coldest Feb I can remember since window cleaning its been the best Feb ever for me financially!

So keep plugging away and it will all work out - maybe not quite as you intended! ;D
It's a game of three halves!
