Beware!
« on: October 28, 2008, 08:35:12 pm »
OMG!!! A mate of mine has just had his new Water Fed Pole system fitted (DIY) about 2 weeks ago, he was having trouble with seperate battery dying and going flat.

So today he got his mate at a garage to wire the pump up to the van battery. He called home for a cuppa and to fill up, came back out and his van was a ball of fire! The fire service said it was an electrical fault. The cable his mate fitted.

He doesn't think his insurance will cover it.

Pictures to follow tomorrow.

Well all i can say about that is that his mate must be related to Frank Spencer then.

Done this for years, if properly insulated etc i don't think it should go up in smoke!!!

If it was wired at a garage then he should be covered,  the insurance will go after the garage that installed it.

yes provided you can prove that the work carried out by the garage was at fault!

gotta feel for the guy, although thinking about it if the battery was going flat prematurely then it may have been a faulty battery which, in some cases, can actually reverse polarise and short out.

When i worked for a company that use deep cycle batteries for powering trollies it was known that they can explode and when putting them on charge we had to wear saftey glasses for H&S reasons.
This was only enforce after one poor chap got a full face full of a battery  :o
