I paid for web listing on yell.com, NADA!

I wont be doing it again next year, a complete waste of my money, i'll stick with a freebie.

I have 2 sponsored listings,

i also have 3 web link listings.

In total around the £5,700 mark..........

Actually what happens if you buy the 1st sponsored listing, you stay top for 12 months & will then be offered the slot the following year.

If you have a web link or priority advert, it rotates with other people who have the same advert as you........ meaning you could be 4th, but the next person who looks - you would be 3rd, then 2nd and so on.

This is a big year for me, spending that much on yell.com, but you surely have a better chance if you bullet points are good, as they say "you have to be in it, to win it".

I believe i only need a couple of decent commercial jobs & i will be happy, as long as they are monthly........ i would be happy picking up 2 jobs at £250 each, which would bring me in ££6,000 per year if i retained them.

I have had quite afew calls regarding residential, if they are small i pass them on, as its the commercial sector i am aiming at.

I am glad i have taken the gamble, i couldnt afford to do it, but cannot afford not to do it........ I want to be at the top & believe my chances of being contacted to quote have increased........ They have been live for 4 weeks & i have have now quoted for 3 commercials, i will be happy with 1 of them saying i have the contract.

Speculate to accumulate is the way i promote my business.

I MUST ALSO POINT OUT lastyear with one of my adverts i picked up afew £50 commercials monthly, £130 monthly, £750 per quarter & 1 job that was a one off that i was paid £7,000 for, took less than 2 weeks to do between 3 of us, although we put serious hours in.
If you need anymore advice before deciding, give me a call 07788 503775.

archer your thoughts and aims are simular to mine,

The sponsored listing thats on offer to me is the 2nd place listing, but im happy with that

For me its a choice between a new van or the sponsored listing, i have vw t4 which i think doesnt look good when turning up at commercial but in turn wont get me new work

The sensible option has to be the sponsored listing and hopefully the van will shortly follow

STEVE,

quite correct, no point having a poophot van and no work, have poop van & know your really trying to be ahead of your competitors.

All good thin gs come to he who waits, certainly true ..............
