soda crystals
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:16:05 pm »
hello,

has anyone ever used soda crystals to break down thick kitchen grease out of a carpet?

I was speaking to a fellow carpet cleaner ni the pub the other day and he did a job  in his local. grease from the kitchen floor was all up the stair carpet and along the landing. he mixed up a mild solution and pre sprayed the lot and then obviously extracted it. he said it worked a treat and only cost him .79p!!!

The H&S risks are significant.  I wouldn't dream of doing it. It will also trash wool, probably nylon too.

Even though you add to cold water, the reaction produces quite a bit of heat. That may give you some appreciation of what you are dealing with.

Keep it for the drains.

SAFE and happy cleaning :)

I wash my nappies and bonnets with about an egg-cup full of soda crystals in the detergent tray (as well as a little regular detergent in the ball thingy inside the machine).

Brings them up a treat :)

Wouldn't spray it all over a customers carpets though!
