ANY ADVICE ON MY FLYER - SHOWN HERE
« on: February 08, 2005, 10:34:24 pm »
Below is what my flyer says, although it looks a lot more professional, with a caption.  It's A5 size and I'm going to download it now to the downloading area if you're interested.

I think a flyer should be short and to the point (unlike many of my posts).  I've seen one (that came through my door) that had a handwritten quote on it.  Is this a good idea? Or do you think it would put people off?

Can anyone help me improve it?

No, she's 'Wor Lass'.  My wife (wish she were ex) lives in Northern Ireland.

That text is fine,

Very important is to have an image.  The one on your avatar would be the best I've yet seen.

You really want to sell the fact that a lady will be coming to clean the windows, believe me, you will have customers flocking!

When people think window cleaners, they think scruffy, ropey looking men who they don't really want around.  A picture of a nice lady cleaning windows will really go down well.

I don't mean to sound sexist, but honestly, the fact that your good lady is working along with you is the biggest selling point you have, make sure you put an image of her, in colour on the flyer.  My guess is that your response will be very good.

Another thing, put an email address on it too.  These days people use email for everything, and they find it easier than phoning up and talking to someone.

When they do call, (here I go again) it would be best if your young lady answers.  People much prefer to talk to a lady, no matter what its regarding.  They feel less pressurised and immediately at ease.  No kidding, it works!

Let us know how you get on.

Philip,

I've just shown 'Wor Lass' your post and we're going to do as you suggest - wholeheartedly.

I've always known this - however - Helen (the shy creature she is) prefers to play a back stage role.  Many times, customers approach her for a quote, rather than me.  If I told her, before your post, that I'd stick a picture of her cleaning windows on a flyer - she'd have a fit.  'What, with the size of my bum?' (she's a size ten marathon runner).

Your post put a smile on her face, and I think she feels more confident hearing this from someone else.

Cheers mate.

The e-mail address is a good one too.  I recently received some good quality business from someone who found me on 'Up Your Street' and it was all done by e-mail.

Wor Lass = Our Lass = My Girl

Thats-a-canny-ballgoon-your-lass-has-gorron = That's a lovely ball gown your young lady is wearing.

It's a different language.  God knows what I'm doing in South Wales.

yeah, short and straight to the point.....not nit picking, but keep the tense either singular or plural...dont mix. (as in Window Cleaner(s)...who are....(fully insured)...apart from that, it's fine. I agree about the female cleaner bit...I'm hoping I can get my Jennie to come and work with me, if I can get her to give up her job as a Manager at one of Birminghams hospitals....(though she gets over 25 grand a year doing that)...so we'd have to go some to replace it....in fact, double my output. But you never know...one day.
