Advert's - Local Advertisers
« on: July 05, 2008, 06:15:36 pm »
From various post's the feedback from leaflets seems to be approx. between 1-4 per 1000, but what about small adverts in local community advertisers, we have quite a few in my neck of the woods, circulation of about 5500 for some of the larger villages, I would imagine that adverts would need to be seen for several months to build a local profile, but it would be interesting to know what feed back others have from this type of advertising.

I use a local publication and it generates more work than leaflets and yellow pages

Do you mean weekly local newspapers or soemthing else?

The problem is all the papers are plastered with CC companies, although you are in a big city.

In my area there are lots of local advertisers, which cover a specific postcode, which are monthly publications, delivered to homes by Royal Mail, and people tend to keep them because they list local services etc, not too many other cc either, although there is a franchise chap in my village, but then he is limited to a specific area.  Only have a small circulation, just over 5000 per month, £25 per month for 1/8 of page, I was thinking of using 4 or 5 of these publications covering upto 15 miles from my home, so getting my business in front of 20,000 on a monthly basis.

Have you tried the Publishing today monthly papers? I advertise in the Nailsea one (for my therapy work) and that's quite good. There's an aquadri in there, but that's it.

Parish magazines pay for themselves many times over, but don't expect them to give you anything like the volume you will get from consistent leafleting. I also get some work from the Parishes which easily covers the cost.

Some on the other hand have been a dead duck and if you can't figure out why drop 'em.

Get friendly with local shop owners, put some business their way, then ask if you can have a leaflet stand in their shop. Most come up with excuses but those that do will serve you well. Must keep them sweet though.

Cheers Mike, just wanted to know if it was worth using these mags, but I am expecting to get most of my work from leaflet drops, about 2000 per week.

Yep, that's the idea, keep that up over the months and you will see results. Keep two leaflets on the go with one  change, like the  headline, ditch the one that does worst after say a month and try a new one against the best so far.
