Totally agree Dave ,  What also baffles me is some people pop up on this forum  ask 1 question,  They  get decent answers but they never reply to say thank you they disappear as fast as they appear . Mike

in a similar vein i have stopped giving advice to newbies, i just feel its a market thats getting saturated and has  been said they pop up grab the advice and disappear and i feel slightly guilty about it but this happened in the plumbing game a few years ago

General knowledge, that I don't mind helping with that but things that I've learnt through lots of trial and error or experience which sometimes have cost time and money, sorry.

If the person has been doing the job for a while, then to a degree that's fair enough  but when someone wants to know how to start up, how to get customers, how to do this, that and the other, then nope. What type of business help a potential competitor know how to make money?

Also, I don't see why someone should get the benefits of any of my experience for free.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Competition can be healthy but I agree with OP questions are asked and you give your time to help out via your own experience and then they don't like the answer so your made to feel a prat or worse some other guy jumps on the thread to slate your answer just because they don't know how to resolve an issue or had experience of the problem.

I'm always happy to help out with advice where possible and occasionally there is still the odd little gem to be found amoungst the flood of dross

Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

well im kinda a newbie on here but i been cleaning windows for like 6 years now and i must say i still don't no it all i guess i no most off it well u think u do in till something goes wrong that u never fort would i do agree though with most off u on here u spent a lot off money on learning your self and then some one who has just started up gets all the info for free on here i have noticed a lot off  newbies on here lately it does worry me a bit i think soon the wold is gonna go window cleaning mad i think there are so many starting up every day now it gonna start getting very competitive and we will be forced to have to put are prices dawn cause all the newbies will be going in cheaper so it does make sense to stop with the advice and let them do it the hard way but i guess even the best of us need help at times so i don't mind helping the guys who have been around for a long time if i can help that is.
