Hi all,

am a window cleaner by trade and have been asked by a chip shop i do the windows for if i would like to do the tile cleaning inside the shop.

Now im not one to turn work down, so ive said to them ive not done tile cleaning before, but i'll look into it and get back to them when ive found out more.

Can anyone shed some light on what products to use please.

Its not a dirty chip shop like some ive seen in my time. They have a 5* rating from the local inspector.

The guy has said if i want the work i can have it every couple of months, so i thought it was worth looking into.

If you just wanted t do i the old fashioned way, then some degreasing floor cleaner and a mop 'n' bucket will do.

If you wanted to charge more, then you could use the chem, with a rotary scrubber and a et vac to suck up all the water/chems/dirt.

Guess it depends how much you charge and how much they're willing to pay. If you mop 'n' bucket it, your pretty much just moving all the dirt around, whereas if you vac it your actually getting rid of the dirt..

Regardless of how clean this chip shop is, what they are asking you to do is remove the grease, grease only responds well to heat and chems!

Because you do the windows there already, I assume that you know how difficult it is to remove the grease from the inside of the windows, and how dirty it makes your scrim, blade, mop etc.

I also assume that the shop will require wall and floor tiles to be cleaned between 4 & 6 times per year.

My advice would be to spend £300/£400 on a commercial steam machine providing the shop will let you have a years contract, then market your "NEW SERVICE" to similair outlets.

If you decide to follow Matt's advice, ensure that any chemicals you use are foodsafe, and be prepared to really earn your money, cos degreasing is very hard work.

we had this, also mainly on the glass ...

we basically sort of window cleaned it.

we used a spare mop head and dipped it in a chemical then we scraped it like you would a window, then window cleaned it off.

then did it again with hot water and anit bac spray and window cleaned it off - came up great!

This method does work for light grease but the fat tends to end up in the grout, as mentioned above steam and vac are best or steam and wipe

Bonadecon from www.Bonasystems.com is what you need for this. I did a Chicken Cottage with it the other week and our sales director used it in a large national bakery today both with amazing results.

It's specifically formulated for use on tiled floors removing organic oils.

It depends on the floor and the tiles.  Invariably chip shops are tiled with porcelain tiles and are usually rated R10-R12.  These tiles are designed to be as anti slip as possible (although there is no such thing) and therefore grip dirt very well. My solution would be use Aqua Mix heavy Duty Tile & Grout Cleaner with hot water applied with a rotary scrubber (This will clean the grout as well) then vac it up with a good quality wet vac.  It will take around an hour in a decent size chippy.
