Northstar surface cleaner
« on: May 23, 2008, 04:00:34 pm »
I am trying to clean block paving with a 20" diameter Northstar surface cleaner. I am using a 6HP Honda pressure washer 3000psi. I am finding that the surface cleaner does not remove weeds and moss, however the pressure washer + lance does it easily. Is this normal? Can I change the nozzles on the Northstar or modify their angle? Is anything else wrong with the Northstar? I am a newbie so help would be most appreciated.

Check basics pressure is on full does your machine have engine throttle control to increase engine revs thus pressure, hight off surface cleaner if adjustable, nozzel blockage, spray bar is moving free might need greasing also have you got the right size nozzels to suit your machine

I don't think a 6hp pump is really up to running a 20" fsc

I use the same fsc with a 2200psi honda from machine mart, and it works fantastic.Have you got enough water  going through,Is there a pressure gauge on your pressure washer. Is the governor on your washer increasing engine speed when you move it.Thats the metal bar that moves from left to right, mabe its stiff.steve@polarcleanitall.com.

I've checked controls on machine and it is a fixed throttle. How do I increase water into system? I've on ly had it hooked up to an outside water tap so far. Is there a way to increase water flow into machine?

Did you buy the fsc new,can you see any damage to it.Is the water pressure from your tap high or low , where is your pressure washer from .Is the pump in good nick. Check these things. You could try running your hose from a water bowser.ie, one from homebase,it might need a bit of priming and you will need a filter on the end of your hose.
