Seemed like a good idea at the time lol
« on: May 06, 2008, 10:17:18 pm »
Just quoted a guy for a job and was really chuffed to get it, the problem is that I will have to buy a mobile petrol pressure washer as mine is a van based system, the problem started when I got home and remembered I had seen a Karcher/honda pressure washer on Ebay, now I can't find it and I don't want to hire a machine or buy cheapo one from china  the Karcher ones were only £250 and the job is for Monday

Why not just spend that money on extra hoses? would you be able to do the job like that?

I have been told that you can only go to around 100 feet with the hoses, something about a back up in pressure not really sure what this means to be honest. If I could go more than 100 feet I definately would because then no messing about with other machines then, the money I saved could go towards my hotbox That would make me very happy.

no you can go further than 100ft - thats only 32 mtrs , I use 40mtrs as a rule so you can go further - how far do you need to go ?

I regulary go to 4 or 5 10mtr lenghts no problems with a 250 bar machine. In fact a couple of my lenghts are 15 mtrs long
I'm always in the poo, it's just the depth that varies

Thanks for all your replys guys I could probably try all my hoses together and see what it is like. The area I am doing is a bit of a distance and I have two days to do it ( mon/tues ) I don't want to get there and not be able to reach as this guy lets out houses and I may get other propertys of his to clean and it would not look very professional if I messed up.

I'm sorry I should have explained I have got a 13hp honda engined power washer and 1000 liter tank that is a unit the washer is built on a frame that is built into the tank so therefore limits its mobility also I have been told that the washer can't be run off towns water as the water needs to be drawn from a tank.

I have a 300' hose and have used it with a Prowler at 1500 psi and a 4 hp 1800 psi pressure washer with little or know loss of power. Just run a hose into your tank from the mains to keep the tank topped up. You only have problems running of the mains if the supply is inadequate which causes your pump to cavitate as it hunts for water, this is when you run it off your tank.

I run mine off a wheely bin but I bought a scrap jetter off e bay last year for spares for mine but it had 70 m of 3/8 hose and a hand wound reel - its worth buying these type of items for these jobs. I know I'm a magpie but I could get 230 mtrs from my machine

and should fly through the job on Monday and Tuesday thanks for all the advice guys.

Most performance machines will not get the needed flow of water through a normal garden hose.  Some however will indeed run quite happily but worth checking flow required and flow acheived with this type of hose, could ruin your machine.

With the extra length of high pressure hose I will just fill the tank on the van and use this to run the machine whilst keeping it topped up with hose from customers outside tap
