How did you arrive at 1200 for £60

Philip

I pay by the hour and come close to your figure.

Was hoping for £30 to £40  per thousand but unless I start to use school kids on Saturdays do not think I will achieve it.

It is possible to reduce average cost by doing some leaflets yourself, but i think it is best to have a mixture some Free newspaper, some paid for Solus and some yourself.

I am amazed you can do over 300 an hour for a long period of time

Its about 6 a minute that gives you 10 seconds at each house

Sure, if they are terraced.  Take posties for an example..  3.5hr deliverys, some have rounds with 400 calls, some with 1200.  The area makes a huge difference  ;)

Do you send out the same leaflet month after month, or are they seasonal or topical ?

I work on my own and do not get the response I would like, but I do believe that if you keep yourself in peoples minds then when they need a carpet cleaner they will call you.I do change my leaflets every few months to gauge the difference in response and once I start getting more than one job per thousand I will have found my ideal leaflet. At present I get about one job per two thousand leaflets, so they do still pay for themselves. I get a better response from the website.

I am going to try free papers seeing what 10k a month delivers. I am having some A6 cards made up but was wondering if I would get a better response with b/w A4.

Anyone tested the two side by side in papers?

I tried leaflets in newspaper but got only 1 job for 2 to 3 thousand!! But  like me , most people hate leaflets in newspapers. I paid a company to "deliver" 10000 for me, amount of calls ....................0   :o  .  Now i deliver them myself with  a few helpers now and again and always get at least 3 jobs per thou. I pay £50.00 per thousand and get my people to record every st etc and when a job comes in from one of their leaflets I give them a little extra.

If free papers on average work out 1 job/2000 that's £60/job so that's not too good. However it is a way of getting stuff out without spending hours trudging the streets and if you get referrals and a long term Client it's going to advantageous in the long run.
