I too considered a golf cart, was going to use one of my old man's old one's, converting it to run the trolley.
But then I started working directly out of the back of my car and hardly use the trolley now, but at least it is there if needed.

To Power a trolley use this simple home made kit:-

Equipment:-

Several Large Rockets left over from Bonfire night.
1 x Roll of Duct Tape
2 x Lighter
1 Pair Roller Skates

Tape two rockets to each skate - one facing forwards, the other backwards.

Method of use:-

Open all gates to gain access/Put on assembled skates & rockets
Ignite rear facing rockets simultaneously with lighters and immediately grip handle of trolley with one hand and hold on to hat with other.
Scream "Wheeeeeeee!" or "Aye, Caramba!" or some other suitable expression as you zoom to required workspot.

Finish work, turn around, ignite remaining rockets and stand, flushed and exhiliarated by vehicle!
This takes some practice as you can imagine and - depending upon Murphy's Law - for the first few attempts you will:-

A) End up in Nettle Patch B) Compost Heap C) Stinky Pond D) Further from intended destination than when you started. E) On Fire. F) All of foregoing!
 ;D
It's a game of three halves!

If the trolley is correctly balanced, with large wheels there is no need to have it powered as the effort required is very little.

Thats ok on the flat ground, but if you are in a hilly area, lugging it uphill is a different matter, or even across a lawn or soft ground come to that, 50k of water is easy to shift on flat, hard ground, but it only really takes a slight incline to make things hard work :-\

But a powered trolley will also be a heavy trolley, ok if you have a van with easy access though.

If I had the time, even though I only use my trolley occasionally, I think I would still like to have a go at making it powered just for the hell of it ;D

The rocket idea is ok, but instead of unused firework rockets you could copy the rocket they did on 'Scrap Heap Challenge'
A bit of tubing and a bottle of propane gas and you can knock up your own jet engine in a weekend ;D

If there is a demand for a powered trolley, I am sure we can soon make a reto fit kit for them ;D
