Question For Ian Giles, Moderator
« on: March 07, 2008, 07:54:36 pm »
Moderator Ian,

As a mod it can be hard to judge when to draw the line and lock a thread on topics such as income, there are often good counter points being made for all of the nonsense.

If you see a post or reply you have made thats been deleted, it may not have much to do with the thrust of your reply, but if you have used a swearword in it, regardless of asterisks then the entire reply will be deleted, humorous or not.

This was your reply to my question, ( I think )

Well let me tell you, I have ( to my knowledge)  NEVER used bad language even with asterisks and my post was a a bit of fun.
So my question is:
Who and why was my post deleted??

It was titled:

I EARN LOADS, HOW ABOUT YOU.

Then the post was:

YOU COULDN'T RESIST COULD YOU.

So please why this post was deleted, and if anyone thought it was a serious post then they need a humour transplant !! Not a swearword in sight.

Regards

I saw your comment to tosh and was a bit baffled. The point is that some things start nice but don't end that way.For instance, it's becoming clear that you are annoyed, but when you began it was in jest.

Ian doesn't have to answer to anyone because his job as a mod is thankless and unpaid. Although he often does respond if he can see some way of being constructive and is not repeating himself. He may not see your question untill the morning though.

On the other hand he might delete the thread....

Asbos,
As to your specific post I have no idea why it was deleted, I have to delete a great many now unfortunately, yours would have been one of many.

I may have viewed it as pointless and not in keeping with the topic, I really don't know.
Ultimately, this is supposed to be a professional forum, humorous replies are all very well, and some humorous ones are well thought out and manage to stick to the specific topic.
Others might be no more than a smiley - deleted straight away if spotted - and still others just pointless or in danger of causing the thread to veer totally off topic, or in danger of turning it into 'chat'.
Or there may be many 'funnies' spread through the topic, when that happens I scan the thread and delete everything I see.

If you want a 'laff' go to the section of the forum that was set up for people to socialise in, if you are going to post funny replies in this section, do so by all means but you can also expect to have them removed.
you are not the only one to have them removed by any means!
