X-tel hybrid pole
« on: February 07, 2008, 12:27:17 pm »
I'm looking to possibly buy a 34ft hybrid from gardiners.

Ive been using a fishing pole for my 3rd storey work and it's brilliant when working on block of flats for instance. But on most of my work which is domestic, the chopping and changing between poles is something I wanted to try and get away from. When my customers aren't in I need to hop over their rear gates to clean the backs and  the fishing pole can be a bit fiddly. From previous posts I no the hybrid's colapsed length is also good when doing the ground floor.

Has anyone changed over for the same reasons and is it a good trade off against the lightness of the fishing pole? And are they durable enough?

Thanks   Rob

I have a 28ft hybrid and they are good bits of kit, very durable.  The closed length at that hight though isn't going to be that short, my 28ft is over 5ft closed.  If you have a fishing pole for 3rd story work I would recommend a 17ft gf xtel for domestic, that is a little over 4 ft closed and is really useful for ground floor.

The 34 ft Hybrid is a good pole but unless you are cleaning 3rd or even 4th story all the time with it it's not really worth it seeing as you already have a fishing pole.  The hybrids are light for what they are, but will be a lot heavier than the fishing pole.

Simon.

Thought I would go with the 34ft just incase some higher work came in. Would I get away with the 31ft for 3rd?

I have an 18ft glass pole that came with my purefreedom and that closed tackles all of my ground floor work although a bit awkward.

I've also got a 30ft glass pole from them and it's not easy to handle unless your cleaning windows which aren't set back, very heavy and bendy. You no uve been working when use it all day it's a beast.

Are the hybrid's noticablly lighter than the standard glass fibre?

Exactly the same for me, i've been using the old fishing pole for nearly a year now and i think a telescopic might be quicker and less fiddly and save a bit of shoe leather (walking to and fro to retrieve sections tossed in the bushes. I'm going for the new one from Gardiners. Hopefully get the best of both worlds then.

Don't know what you were measuring it with Simon, but my 17ft gf xtel closed with a small gooseneck and brush on is 5ft 8in total, still nice and compactish  though ;)

I've just looked on gardiners and hadn't taken much notice about the new pole advert. Could be worth waiting for.

Might be asking an old post but do they no when there realeasing the new pole, seems about the right price bracket for my budget.

Had a look at the facelifts and there little bit out of my price range at the mo

Supposed to be in the next couple of weeks if you have pre-ordered, then the next batch should be the end of March i think.
