hi there

website costs vary a lot, there are more and more people offering web and search optimisation services,

the weird thing is they all seem to be able to guarantee top 10 slot on google, well surely they can only sell that to 10 companies.

noboy can guarantee a top 10 listing.

we did our site ourselves, which mean that we can add to it very easily, and whilst i use google adwords, we have a reasonable natural listing, and our line of business does very well, if indeed i had spent say £2k it still would have been money well spent.

you need to decide your busget on a website, which in the end wil come out of your advertsing spend, and then you are in a position to go ahead

regards

martin

Very true Martin, guaranteeing something you have no control over can be a road to failure, I look at the competition, the keywords that the website wants to aim for and you can quite easily see if the first page is possible.

Btw the way you cant read some of the text on your website in Firefox, that could be 20% of your readers...

What works offline will work online with marketing so there are very few secrets, make sure its clear, well written and easy to use. Most important make sure its in your name so its yours forever.

I recently designed this site:

http://www.titanium-uk.co.uk

For the website + business card, letterhead and compliment slip design I charged them £690.

Getting up in the listings requires a lot of work, I would recommend Mark, our sites can usually be found at the top of page 1 in searches relating to us in this area.

How much do you want to pay? its possible to get a 5 page site , with emails, hosting, domain name, plus extras for a fiver....yes its templated and there are adds above (no pop ups), but you can also alter the meta tags and title etc.....    www.starternet.co.uk  (alter the pricing to GBP)
