Videos of WFP in motion
« on: January 12, 2008, 08:41:10 pm »
Does anyone have any short video clips of themself or of other window cleaners using WFP to clean the windows.
I'm just curious how other WFP window cleaners wash the windows with their poles and what method (wash/rinse) they use. Also curious how much water they use and how long it takes them.
This forum is good for picking up tips, advice and help, but short video clips speak volumes.
If you have a video clip that you wouldn't mind posting on here I'm sure myself and many others would find them very interesting to learn from :)

Bottom clip on this page shows our standard rinsing technique.

I tried finding the one that an Ionics rep made and posted on here last year but with no luck. Does anyone know where to find it?

Question for Alex Gardiner:

I watched the demonstration video of yours, impressive :)
In the video clip are you using microbore hose with a (high flow) flojet pump, without a varistream flow controller? Would you agree that having a high flow of water enables you to work quicker and at what point do you decide it's too excessive for the speed you work at?
Reason I ask is because I use minibore with a shureflow 100psi large flow pump, with a varistream flow controller set between 12noon and 1pm dial setting but I keep my brush on the glass for scrubbing and rinsing.  I use a lot of water whilst cleaning like yourself but it's hard to compare because you rinse with the brush off the glass.

Yes that is using a 100 psi Flojet pump, with 6 mm microbore and no electronic flow control. I tend to like to use slightly more water as it does help you work a lot faster which on commercial work is very important.  On the video, the water flow is probably as high as I would like it.  Using a 45ft pole with the same set up, the water flow is slightly less.

On problem windows, for instance those that have a tendency to leak, etc, I do tend to use my pole control valve and turn the flow down slightly.  I know some people would say this puts extra strain on the pump but it's only the equivalent of working with a longer hose reel.

I do occasionally rinse with the brush on the window on very awkward to get to panes of glass but generally I rinse off.  I have noticed recently on one of my competitors who uses a full Ionics set up with rinse-on technique, that when you check his work afterwards it has spot marks on the glass.  I'm sure this is down to his using the technique rather than the technique itself.

me- high flow, fan jets, flocked vikan, rinnse  on.

In my opinion this is the correct hot technique and differs from cold.

So, its scrub scrub scrub, then down down down, move on.

There isn't a right and a wrong way but if you prefer a high flow, and am forced to anyway because of heater, you might as well adopt the techniques you find best suited to speed and accuracy.

I've had complaints about my work, but none for a very long time.
