i ve just created one on windows on the bottom of my site there is a link if you want to use it (i think it is windows office) dead easy to do. not to a great standard but im well happy with it. and it was totally free.
i wanted to show people in the streets i work in what i do rather than create loads of interest from search engines
take a look.

Hi Martin,

I designed my own site >> http://www.southerncleaningservices.co.uk and a couple of other forum members:

http://www.mjhcleaningservices.co.uk

http://www.cardiffwindows.co.uk

Drop me an email if you would like some more info.

Thanks,
Andy

Tony, I hope you don't mind me saying, but insurance is spelt incorrectly in the 3rd paragraph. I thought you might want to alter it.

I think it looks pretty good. When are you adding the "about us" information?

Cheers,
Ian

No problems Tony. I just thought you might want to know. I should have pointed out I didn't check everything, so there may well be other little bugs to fix too.

Content is always the difficult part. I always had a block when it came to writing it. :)

Enjoy the golf!

In reply to the original question, I understand from other posters on this forum that they haven't seen a big increase in custom from a web site.

However, it works well to inform people who want more info about your business once they are aware of you.

Andy and Windowwashers are in a good position to help you with this.
