AOL Find a tradesperson
« on: December 31, 2007, 07:38:06 am »
AOL have an advertising section on the left hand side of their home page. Lots of sections for travel, money etc and also Property and Home.
If you go into Property and Home you get a further list of options, one of which is "Find a Tradesperson". I discovered this today and along with every sort of trade you can imagine is "Window Cleaner".
I clicked on window cleaner and entered my home postcode. It came back as none found.
I believe E-bay have a similar idea, although their scheme seems a bit fiddly.

Is this a vast untapped business opportunity? Or just an expensive dead loss? Has anyone had any experience of these schemes, in particular the AOL scheme?

every time i log onto aol i click the little red crosses on every pop up page for the buddy list quick start home page etc.. i hate it all and i havent ever used the extra aol features they offer. I use it purely for other websites and email. I dont think many other people are going to stumble accross these features to find window cleaners.. theyre probably going to go on google and search window cleaner , or ebay

I have had several customers through a classified ebay add linking to my website.  And have linked on some homearea websites...

I would be surprised if many people use the aol or other web browser features unless theyre bored or dont know how to use a computer....

i have been on the find a tradesperson just because you mentioned it, and its supposed to be the UK's largest directory of recommended tradespeople...

I searched my postcode and it didnt have anything. So i would give it a go, and forget about it - but theres not even a way to register your trade online there. I would go with ebay- this has had my best response so far.
