Too late to get an accountant?
«

Just going through my self assessment paperwork and i'm getting to the stage where i really can't be bothered to go through the stress of it all over again. And panicking whether (despite my best efforts) i'm putting things in the correct boxes and not claiming for all that i'm entitled to. I'm not interested in going on tax courses etc etc. Question i got for you guys and gals is................do you think it's too late to get an accountant to do it before the Jan 31st deadline??? There's one down the road from me but is it taking the p*ss to ask them to do the neccessaries for that date? Thanks for any advice x

Ask, defo get one, knock on the door they are all working now even if the doors closed. You just have enough time. Try to get one that has another or other windowcleaners, but get one. Go out and try, NOW. You will have a good few months to pay them.

Dino, No its not to late but they will probably charge you more and also want to do your books on a regular basis.
It is very difficult to keep on top of it all and understand everything.
We recently took our company Ltd (Aug) and our accountant said our tax bill would be around £9,000.
Dropped through the door this week £14700 I nearly fell through the floor.
I had a right go at them as I had been budgeting for £9,000.
Hope you get sorted out anyway.
Happy new year

Depending on how much you've done yourself regarding the state of your accounts i would estimate (if you're a sole trader) that it would cost you approx 2-300 quid per year for an accountant.
Worth every penny & they will probably save you loads more than the charge in tax. Takes away the hassle & gives you peace of mind IMO.

Thankyou all. I am a sole trader so it should be money for old rope to them. Just one more question.....sorry...
Can THEY do MY tax online or do they do it through the postal system??? Thanks again and takin this chance to wish you all a Happy and Successful 2008

Yes, they can do it online, you just need to sign something to authorise the process. My a/c does mine online.
