Yes use an extending pressure washer lance and blast it out, just done one last week as it happens.

Done a few above conservatories.
All you need is a gutter cleaning tool and an extension pole and pull the crap towards you and scoop out into a bucket

Drain cleaning rods, with half moon attachment, use them all the time, just be careful not to be over ambitious and drag too much otherwise it pours over the sides onto the outside of the gutters, the conservatory roof, the old biddy admiring your ingenuity, everywhere.

Also, if you havent already got out get yourself a ladders stand off fro your ladders, it makes everything so much easier if you can actually see what you are doing!!

easycleanwindows,

Have you got any pictures and further details of your wet/dry vac? Sounds alot cheaper than the purpose built machines at £1200+vat!

Its all very well use things such as extension rods and poles but two problems spring to mind.

Firstly when your up a ladder trying to reach and hold a pole over ten feet long is not easy and also potentially very dangerous as you will need both hands and what will be holding you on the ladder especially when that rod gets caught in something and throws you off balance, been there got the T-Shirt, so dont risk it I say.

Secondly in my experience not many gutters are always nice and open and easy to get tools into so trying to do this at distance is a nightmare.

So as I mentioned already use a pressure washer lance or an extending vac cleaner, which is on my new year shopping list

Standing at the top of a ladder with a pressure lance is probably a hell of a lot riskier than using rods.  We have always used the ladder stand offs which give the ladders a lot of stability, they even have a hook for hanging bucket and tools from.   Cost about £25 - 30

Like everything, each individual task has to be mentally risk assessed and judged before carrying it out, safety is always the priority.

Lionheart,

I did not mean use a lance up a ladder I mean use an extendable lance from the ground  ::)
