a solenoid kit for automatic cutoff of RO
« on: November 09, 2007, 10:39:21 pm »
i was told about fitting a solenoid to my ro with an auto cutoff when the tank is full.

firstly anyone know how to do it?

if so what kit would i need? some diagrams of hooking it up would be good as well if possible?

thanks

i havent used one, im not sure i think the valve just stops flow from the blue tubing from the ro?

cuts off water full stop. yes to waste and pure water. water stops as soon as it kicks in.

Neither of those RO-MAN gadgets will work with a 40 inch RO system if that's what you have.

For an auto cut off with a 4040 you need a proper solenoid valve with an electric power supply. Normally 12v. It'usually a normally closed one which opens when you give it power to let water through. It can be anywhere before the RO. To make it auto cut off you need a circuit breaking float valve in the tank so that when the water reached it the circuit is broken so that the solenoid closes due to no power in the circuit.

thanks

i sell an auto cut of valve solenoid for the 40/40 includes all the fitting to go in to the tank ,

some use them for a speed fill on the ro/di  in the van if not using a static tank

the 12 volt one needs a battery or there is one which converts  the 12 volts to mains comes with a box which tells you what its doing

we sell many of these and they work extremely well

Hi
I bought one of these and they work in theory but not in practise (in my experience.)

I already have a ball float valve in my tailer setup so just bought the shutoff valve.

There are two inlets and two outlets on this valve. The first pair are the supply water in and out and the second are the pure water in and out.
The shutoff simply senses the buildup of pressure in the pure water tube when the storage tanks are full and shuts off the supply water from the mains.
The problem with mine is when the tank is nearly full and the float valve is allowing less water through it than the RO is producing. The pressure buildup is sensed by the shutoff valve and switches the supplying water off. As the pressure in the pure water line subsides the shutoff valve reopens and the same process happens again.

The first night it was on we were awaken by this hammering in the water pipes at the valve opened and closed rapidly; the first and last time it was ever used.

I see that this is a kit so maybe the ball valve works differently but I doubt it. With your RO producing more water than mine will probably exacerbate the problem.

what about if you use a booster pump - how would that shut off. I am working on a diy solenoid/ contactor operated system that will shut the supply water off and shut the pump down, when its finished I will [post the pics

look on www.essentiallypure.co.uk

the p144 , on the eco flow range is to run a booster pump and a has inbuilt shut of solenoids for the r/o, you can either use a 150 psi 12 volt or hook up a main booster pump

I have just noticed gardiners do a float v/v with a switch on it to stop the pump for a tenner

Cheers Sair, i will order one in a week or so, once i've had my booster pump delivered i will get a kit.

thanks
