I have on my books a job just that size ( could almost be the 1 if it were not for the brick colour) & can honestly say it will reach but and its a big but you wont get the right angle with the lance to flush them out properly you will only be able to wash at a straight down angle, Afraid its gonna be a platform or picker job

Hi Chris can i pick your brains for a bit and ask how much would you quote for this job its a 1off for gutters and windows, also do you have/use your own plantform or hire it, if so where from and what is the cost involved? ???

Thanks :)

Omnipole do a jet washing lance up to 48 feet. I have a 36 ft omnipole jet wash lance. It's a bit whippy fully extended when the pressure washer is going but it does the job it's meant to :)

Me personally for the gutters 4 sides with easy acsess for the picker all round £250 plus windows @ normal cost, I dont have my own lift I use Mervyn Lamberts , Garboldisham allthough you will need theft ins for them and need to be an acc holder (they are really fussy like this) as for the cost's involved they vary according to which machine you need and how long
( longer hire obv works out better per day)

so £250+hire costs or £250 inclusive? Also what do you meant by "theft ins "

£250 inc hire

Theft ins is needed because if the machine gets lifted you are liable for the cost of the machine

like I said they are fussy like that

The ground is not level and grass. you will need a 4x4 boom lift. The grass will need to be firm and you will need a good day with little or no wind. An IPAF license is required. Some hire companies do free surveys if your unsure of the machine you require.

The easiest way to do this job is with Omnipole's  omnivac or power pole or both, but you will need a second person and support pole. A 35-40 section should be enough.

If you don't have the kit do you know anyone locally that does?

Have a look at the pics it will give you a rough idea

36ft Omnipole (6x6ft sections) pressure washing pole with an 'angled' & an 'over the gutter' lance attachment should do that job. The pole is whippy when you first squeeze the trigger so what I do is rest the tip of the pole along the brickwork away from any windows and brace mysaelf for the initial whip of the pressure washer when I first squeeze the trigger and then complete one wall of the building making sure that when I release the trigger my pole will not bounce into any windows as the force of the pressure washer cuts off. One wall at a time with a break of say 5mins in between making sure you pump the blood back into your arms again afterwards as it takes it out of you doing a building that size at that height. :)

I don't know the weight of it off the top of my head but it's a heavy-ish but manageable pole as a single user at that height.

Providing you do the work in short bursts and take breaks in between to get the blood circulating in your arms again you'll be fine because when the pressure washer is going it's hard work bracing the pole close to your body to stabilise the pole where you want to work.

It's not for the faint hearted who only use supalite poles all day as it would be a big shock for them holding a pole that weighs more than a bag of sugar ;D

Phone Omnipole and ask them how heavy the pole weighs.

It's not how heavy the pole weighs you need to worry about but how much initial whip you have at the top of the pole when you apply and release the trigger on the pressure washing pole you have to cater for when bracing your arms and body :)

As you already have the Telescopic lance I think you would be better to hie a 4x4 boom lift price it in to the job , you may however need to put some boards down on the grass to stop the wheels from churning it up as you go round and possibly someone to help you position boards as you will be up top

I had exactly the same lance as in the pictures until lately. Is a good lance but they wear quickly with use and the collars lock after a while. I up graded to an Omnipole Powerpole. Ok its about £500 to buy but it will do the job in the pictures with ease and you can also remove the sections you don't need  to lighten it, if you buy a collet adaptor for it. The nice thing is you can buy the 36 ft pole then add sections as you get jobs that need them up to 48 ft.

The power pole also has many other uses and some handy attachments too like a gutter spike that attaches to the u bend and allows you to break up solid matter and soil in gutters. It can also be used as a wfp pole.

Hope this helps

PS the windows look good ;D

why not hire a tower scaffold this wont do any damage to lawn area like a cherrypicker will, it is cheaper to hire but the job will take a little longer, if you do a lot of jobs like this then yes i would buy the 48ft omnipole but laying out a few hundred quid for one job now and then might not be worth it.

Hello, I got the lance as in the pictures with the gutter hook, first I bent the hook to one side to wash along the gutters, then I took the low pressure nozzle out of my old dual gun and fitted that on the gutter hook. You still need ladders to fit the strainer to the down pipe and remove the crap,  if the pipe is open at the bottom I don't bother with the strainer, for blocked down pipes I use my drain jetter from the bottom. People never want to pay enough to cover the grief

The point is that the lance dont even reach the second floor never mind the gutters, as for scaffolding tower it would be ok on both back and front but i would not risk it on the sides due to the ground inclination, so i will put the quote for the boom if they take it good if not, they are always free to find some1 else :-\
