CCTV are useless, mostly there's no film, and if there is they don't keep it. They are mainly concerned with council employees safety, beyond that forget it.

I guy I know was murdered under one, and several other requests including a parking attendant trying to ticket me, no hopeless.

(the guy was hit very hard, had a broken cheek surgery, and died of a heart attack a few weeks later-he was a council employee doing his job)

The same kind of thing happend to me a couple of years ago took hose through garage caught car, I though they were that light that they would polish out (wrong) this fella loved his four wheels and took it to have quotes, these ranged from complete strip down and respray to ragging the area, lucky for me he choose the ragging solution, but even this cost me £350 CASH (no vat)(No reciept)
Not worth bothering the insurance even though I was coverd.

Hope this helps,
As a friend told me at the time roll with the punches, but I would suggest that if no one saw you do the damage it is up to the other fella to prove his case..
