Thick question from a newbie!!
« on: October 09, 2007, 04:11:26 pm »
Ok this might sound stupid, but can you use wfp with a detergent? What I mean is, if you have a particularly bad first clean, can you use water with added detergent (using the wfp method), then finish off with clean water?

Would this not be better than spending ages using pure water alone on the first clean? Sorry if it is a stiupid question but I am new to wfp!! Thank you.

Hi Andrew.

If your worried about using up your pure water why not connect your pole to the outside tap.

I've been Wfp nearly 2 years, after a while you will be able to get even minging windows up alot quicker & less water, that will come with time & experience. I've always just used pure water.

Hi Mate,

Yes you can use squeezy with a WFP. Just rince it off well.

As Aztec says no question is stupid.  Ask away mate.  We are all here to help.

Andrew

Yes you can use a detergent, I put a small drop of neat fariy on the brush head soap up frame and window then lift the brush off and rince off all the suds. I have done this for serveral years and you only have to do it once.

Some on the site will wash the window 2 or 3 times first clean, but the above  is one clean one rince and job is done.

Or run detergent through your backpack with a different brush, and follow behind with the pure system. Should be great on con roofs. Dai

So if you have really really dirty glass maybe I could soap with a backpack, flush rinse with tapwater then final rinse with pure, I appreciate what your saying Roy but I may have an airport job to do.

Only some answers might be ;D

If your got really dirty windows you can use a squeegie on pole first then rinse off with pure water or you can put a couple of drops of gg3 or gg4  into your water tank ( this amount won't effect your  tds reading)

Like everyone says no question is stupid.

On minging first cleans we put Evans high class detergent into a bucket with pure water then if a tap is handy we plug a hose into it and first dip the brush into the detergent mix and srub all the cr*p away using loads of water. Then we do a quick pop round again using pure and a clean brush. I think the seperate brushes are the key here. It takes only seconds to swap a brush. This works a treat for us and we hardly ever get any spotting or streaks on first cleans. If a tap isnt available then we just dip the brush into the bucket as above but use pure.

There are very few first cleans that need anything more than pure water. I did a house a while back that haven't been done for 14 years and although I used a lot of water it came up fine. I really would be reluctant to put anything through my pump/hoses/ brush that wasn't put water.

I'll second that. ;)
For all the none-sense that's bantered about on here about first wfp cleans & how the detergent will leave spots/streaks etc from last trad clean & look at this lot! a whole list of people dipping brushes in fairy, putting gg3 in tank etc :o
What a laugh ;D, some people, honestly ::)

've got the tucker with detergent thing for roofs and stuff. It is sort of worth it. To be honest just scrub more, or let it soak. Its amazing if you just leave it a couple of minutes, it'll come off.
