Hi guy's and gals
Just had an email sent to me by paypal, saying I could have my customers pay me by credit card online, has anyone taken up this method of payment, if so what are the charges like, if you do use this method do you have a minimum payment.?
I'm not really a fan of paypal, but willing to change with the times, if its a worth while method.

I'm thinking of doing this also.
Think Paypal charge a higher % if someone pays with credit card.
If you withdraw over £50 from your Paypal account you have no charges for this but under this they charge you a %.
I still have to find out more but having trouble with their site at the moment

paypal is 20p + about 4% i think per payment.

to get your money from paypal there are charges if you withdraw less than £50 ....over £50 is free however !!!

i use this method in one of my other businesses and it works well - and you dont have to pay the £10 to £20 per month for a PDQ machine - if you do low volume it is good.

i dont charge customers if their bill is £15 +...otherwise i charge them 50p to cover costs

I use paypal and nochex for online payments and i have about a dozen customers use it a month.

I use Paypal and Nochex, the small charges outway the cost in petrol and time for me going out to collect. Only have a few customers use it at the moment but people seem to like the idea of being able to pay online. It also looks good on the website too.

I am thinking about trying this method of payment. I hate collecting and consider it a waste of (working/leisure) time. I use SAEs for £10+ at the moment. Have any of you tried this lately? Success? Also the costs. Are they prohibitive, do you feel? I think a £5 payment would actually be £4.60 net. Costs of 4% (20p) + 20p. All in all about the same as leaving a first class stamp on an envelope.

I reckon that by having all this Pay Pal payment on line etc your giving the customer the easy way to dump you,giving them Email addreses they can dump you without having to face you.Don`t say you havn`t been warned.

I have it on my website now, and its going well so far. As was said already, the cost of either SAE's or time and petrol is far more than what paypal will charge you,.. so its win win really.
Have a look at my website,.. I've a field on the payments page for a contact number, and a space for the ticket number,.. and this info arrives in the paypal email once the transaction is complete, so I can keep my records up to date.

why not give your cuctomers your business A/c number and sort code for internrt/telephone banking its free of charge ? thats what my customers do not had any problems so far

I offer my customers a choice of paying by bank transfer straight into my account, or paying by credit/debit card using nochex... From experience nochex are much better than paypal.

PS. Paypal once held £400 of my money for 6 months for no reason!!!
