Belated thanks are due.
« on: October 15, 2004, 04:06:53 pm »
Hello all,

A few weeks ago, I asked if anyone on these boards would be prepared to let me tag along with them for a day or so, as I wanted to see the business of CC first hand, before committing any further.

I had some offers of help, and would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank them via clean-it-up.

I've been out with 'Woodman' on a couple of jobs, one a large Suite clean, and another a commercial job using 'Texatherm'.  Saw how he used the 'Minitex' on the suite, and have to say that is a must for my shopping list.  Also impressed with customers Tea and Biscuits  :)

Spent some time also with 'Big Fish' on some straightforward Carpet cleans, again, interesting to see.

'Bryan H' also phoned me, and offered a lot of much appreciated advice.

Without wanting to drone on and on, I can only say that I have learnt a hell of a lot from these forums, but all that info' is no substitute for actually seeing it in operation.

A lot of the 'buzzwords' that I've read about on these boards. I have seen 'in action' such as HWE, CFR (and handtool), Texatherm and Minitex, M/S and traditional Chem's, as well as Carpet and Suite cleans and both Domestic and Commercial environments.

I have also been to see Rob' McKane at A&M, and Steve Saunders at Alltec, both of whom spent considerable time with me, and offered no pressure, sound and unbiased advice.

Woodman and Big Fish, in spite of my stupid questions (and no doubt slowing them down in their work) were only ever totally helpful.

So to all of you, I can only say a big......

THANK YOU.

 :) :) :) :) :)

Hi Des,

Thanks for your comments.

Minitex, as you rightly say, from Texatherm, about £200 odd +VAT.

Similar looking to rotary car polisher type machines.  Uses terry type pads.

They way I saw it utilised was.

 1. Prevac
 2. Misted with Microsplitter.
 3. Minitex used in stages with light pressure.
 4. Extract with CFR handtool.
 5. Used again with clean dry pad to assist drying.
 6. Airmover.

A lot less elbow grease.

Did I miss anything Trevor?

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Des,

Sorry, forgot to answer part of your question regarding results using Minitex.

As far as I could see the result was superb, Trevor's customer was really happy.

Not sure whether the results were actually better using the Minitex as opposed to other methods, as I don't really have the experience to comment.

It just seemed very easy to use, and probably quicker.

Trevor (Woodman) would be better qualified to comment.

Regards.

Martin, If my memory serves me right Woodman said he had a way of saving time when cleaning a suite.

He did not reveal the secret.

I think you just have???

Can't comment on courses yet Ian, as haven't been on any yet.

With most vocations though, You tend to go on a course, then when you get back to the shop floor your colleagues say, ''right, forget all that, this is how it's really done''

Is CC any different?

Yes, courses give you a good grounding and some basic knowledge but it is getting out there and doing it that actually brings real knowledge.
Something that none of the manuals say is that you never know it all.
Keeping up to date with training is important. If you can come away from a training course with just a small bit of new information that can help with either technical or marketing it's worth it.

We were glad to help. Feel free to be in touch again if you want too.

Regards,
BFN
