« on: October 15, 2004, 07:59:02 pm »
Have been asked to quote on 500 sq yards of Belgium wilton Carpet. Its split between 10 rooms. In a golf club - Bar area, function room, snooker room ect- you get the picture :(
Early morning or late night cleaning ???
Oh, and they want it doing November or December  ;D

Already put my quote in - dont expect to get it  ;)

Would you quote on such a job, or walk away,

Cheers

If its not badly soiled would low moisture technique like bonnet cleaning or charlie pads be an option? If price is a problem for the customer this may be a way around things and no risks of shrinkage.

If you shrink it you can hire my power stretcher. Need to recoup the investment only used once by me  :( but quite a few times by others. ;D ;D

Dave!     When you say no probs cleaning Belgian Wilton are you talking HWE? Because I never ever clean the stuff since I shrunk one once. And believe me I kept it as dry as I could. In fact it was a stairs and small hall/landing. Cleaned it all with upholstery tool. It still shrunk. So only clean BW if the owner insists. But have cleaned many since with no probs.

BWs are no problem on the domestic level provided they are correctly fitted around the entire room perimiter - along just one wall insuficietly secured, and most will pull in. I did one in an Indian Takeaway last week - absolutly black with greasy soil. I informed the owner it would shrink along the counter and possibly pull away from the single Naplock metal. It cleaned up well with loads of elbow grease and yes, it shrunk about 1/2 inch as I had explained it would - their risk, they knew what to expect.

Hi Guys ,

Did a domestic BW yesterday , well fitted no problem.

Quoted for a small golf club with BW a couple of weeks ago and went in high because it was only stuck down , no grippers.

Did'nt get job which I needed like a hole in the head anyway.

I'll be interested how they got on ;)

Cheers,

Doug
