Steve,

It might be because you're at the computer a bit too much too! Ask me how I know that!!

Get along to the Doc and get him to book you in for Physio - they'll give you treatment, exercises, and hopefully give you a leaflet showing you the right way to sit at the PC, correct height to have the VDU, etc.

In fact, if you let me have your email address, I'll send one off to you that I got a while ago from the Physio I use. I can't PM it cos the system doesn't take attachments, but you can PM me or get my email from my profile.

If you don't already use them, get a hold of Unger ErgoTec handles - they certainly help reduce strain - and try to hold them loosely to develop a smooth, flowing, squeegee action. Don't hold the handle too tightly, make the rubber do the work, not your arm.

Steve

I am in more pain since getting wfp than ever before.
You use a toataly diferent set of muscles and joints and it seems to take a while for you body to get used to it.
I had to take a day off last week as my arm was so painful.

Well Neil,

I presume you've got yourself off to a Physio too! If not, WHY not?

Think of your body as the major piece of equipment in your business, not the van or car which gets the equipment to the next job. Now, do you get that motor serviced on a regular basis? I hope so - this is called Preventative Maintenance and should minimise you losing working time by having to have the motor repaired for something you didn't expect, which normally happens when you REALLY need it on the road.

You should be taking care of your body on the same principle, I'm not saying you end up as a hypochondriac, but if you feel something's not right, do something about it before it gets worse - a stitch in time, and all that.

I hope that makes sense - what I'm trying to say is, you really do owe it to yourself to take care of your body. Sod being Macho and working through the pain barrier, I'm a wimp of the first order - but a fit wimp!
