I'm currently putting a quote together for a care home.

I'm really stuck on what to charge.

Do any of you guys clean any care homes at the moment?

Are they normally after something for nothing / the cheapest price etc... Or can you price them fairly well?

we do a couple of nurseing homes,we over priced and got them both but as for getting payment out of them,nearly 2 months the last time!!!

i priced mine on how long i thought it would take us to clean them which was well priced, and it turns out that we clean them even quicker which is more money in my pocket

I do one place, the money until very recently was excellent, an hourly rate of about 3 times what a lot aim for on here.

When I took it on I acquired it from another shiner, I was able to basically  double his price, through some careful engineering of what we negotiated at the time; but now they have a new area manager and it seems most services have an allocated budget; whereby Ive had to take a cut in my earnings with them but they dont get so much done. It still works out at about the same hourly rate, just they dont get their windows done so often.

Price was initially worked out at a price per window and mulitplied up, but the fortunate thing was there were no ground floor windows, so its a piece of cake.

Just price it like any other job, theres nothing worse than quoting to low , you will then regret getting the job

In the end I priced up at £1.25 per window, which also works out around the figure I had in mind by just looking at the property.

I used to do 5 care homes for a company, they were a nightmare to get payment from. I'm not saying this is the case with every care home just this particular bunch.

I lost the work a week after i raised concerns about how some of the staff were treating the residents.

In the end i shopped them to social services.

I have a care home opposite to where i live and the windows havn`t been done for over a year,it`s a fantastic old building that`s been converted.The owners of these places don`t realise what a difference it makes to the look of the building by having clean window`s,i`m sure when the families come to visit they must notice and say what are we paying nearly £600 a week for.

i have 3 on the books, 2 different companies, they all want it done for nothing and are only interested in cost, this said although my standard of work is high i think it could be alot lower and nothing would be said. i alternate between an exterior and interior clean on a 4 week cycle and one piece of advice i can definately offer you is when you do the interior clean take some vicks vapour rub to put under your nose........all three of mine seem to have acquired a similar smell.

2 things i have learnt from cleaning these establishments

1) i leave the job (every time)  sad that the residents quality of lives is so pants
2) i do not want to get old (and end up in one of these places)

I don't know as I didn't price myself, the previous cleaner did. Although the windows are very very easy to do, not only ground floor, but fairly large easily bladed windows, no transoms or small panes, so this helps in getting the job done quickly.

   it is a pong isn't it, I found I didnt notice it after a while, having said that, since this restructuring etc and insides therefore aren't now done, I went back inside briefly to get to some otherwise inacessible patio doors and the smell hit me then.
