A mixed bag of results to this very awkward and tempting scenario.

My tuppence worth is two fold

1 Good staff are very much like finding a good girlfriend or partner. The girls say they have to kiss a lot of frogs before finding their prince and this is one solution to employing. Try try try and try again until you find that ideal employee. It can work.

2 Being a successful self-employed window cleaner is something to be very proud of. It means you are a good worker,a professional trades person, a great technician. But unfortunatelywhat it doesn't always make us is a good employer. You need to be able to attract quality employees to you , not have to go out and pick from the pool that nobody else wants. You also have to be able to devise and manage a system that ensures your employee does complete the work and to your standards every time.

Last thought: Most of the replies have been in the negative ,similar in the style of your question. If you can only see the pitfalls of employing instead of  the many benefits ask yourself the question,Is this what i really want?

Gordon
