From a competitors point of view I believe they have been a godsend !
With their massive  advertising & heavily sign written vehicles, they have brought carpet cleaning to the notice of the public.

They have also made it easier for us independants to charge realistically higher prices for our work.

I had a bad experiance with them last year, they kidnapped me and probed me (annally ) with Ph paper to see if I really drink my cleaning solution in front of customers.

I was a franchisee 1990 - 2001, I would be interested in your story to see if it is similar to what happened to another local franchisee a few years ago. Tell us more.

I live in Beverley and the UK headquarters or chemdry are an upstanding member of our local community, they provide employment for many local people.

They should be applauded for bringing a much needed professionalism to our industry.

i started of with chem-dry quite a few years ago they taught me how to clean carpets
it wasnt untill i took a school with paul pearce a few years later  that i learned to clean carpets correctly

the above it just my personal opinion

(been caught out by them once before for saying my opinions)

If you honestly believe you have been shafted I have a phone number just make sure you dot the I’s and cross the t’s, your contract is in favour of the franchisor not you!

My local one has a new van

When in East Yorkshire I see lots of Chem Drys.

Therefore can only conclude it is a profitable organization and perhaps I should consider joining them

When I started cleaning I used to think  the franchises where some sort of carpet cleaning gods who knew all there was to know about cleaning etc etc.  

Having met a few of them I've found there all just ordinary blokes like me doing a days work and have the same problems as me too.  I've nothing to be afraid of in terms of competition as theres plenty of work out there for us all and then some.

Dont forget all your buying is branding and maybe some flood work.  Any training and equipment you get can be got through NCCA and the usual suppliers.  Marketing can be taught, bought or learnt and its never your OWN business.

Seems to be a pretty daft question, as Phil noted, but also defamatory. This is a public forum and to say "I have been shafted to sum of over £250K by those arse wipes at beverley " invites legal action, irrespective of the merits of your case.

I would suggest you couch your question in better, more specific terms...

In other words....get to the point!

The underlying principle of all franchises in all industries is that you pay and they pocket your money.

thats how it works so if you paid them £250K presumably you got many times more than that back as earnings.

I am not a fan of Francihses in general but if you want someone to hold your hand in the early days they are there for you.
A lot of people start to resent having to keep on paying after they are up and running but by the its too late.
