Carrying water tanks
« on: October 06, 2004, 06:05:39 pm »
Hi fellas!!
Any idea of the maximum size tank i could safely carry in my Bedford Rascal without pulling the guts out of it?
Is a 1000litre tank too big ?

Cheers....Kev
PS do they need to be ballasted?

All depends on what kg your van can take, should say somewhere. My 800kg Berlingo can only manage a 400litre tank i was advised not to get a bigger tank than that for a 800kg payload.

No way can a bedford rascal take a 1000litre tank, i reckon a 300litre tank would be closer to the mark.

Got a little guide here that come with my APS catalogue for van weight/tank sizes

Van Payload Required

250 Litre 550kg Van
500 Litre 750kg Van
650 Litre 1100kg Van
750 Litre 1200kg Van
800 Litre 1250kg Van
1000 Litre 1500kg Van

I think a bedford rascal has a Total payload of 625kg so if u count the ladders plus passengers and other stuff a 250/300 litre tank looks to be about all it can manage  :-\
