Hello All - Newbie
« on: July 17, 2007, 08:01:46 pm »
Just thought i'd Say Hello !

I'm 18 just about to go lonesome!

I've brought a bit of kit to start Small.

I've brought some Basic Gardening Equipment (fairly easy to get a few domestic jobs to keep cash flowing) but...

The main thing i'm leaning towards in cleaning (obviously :) ) I've brought a Pressure Washer, Surface Cleaner Etc, looking to get a few different attatchments for Guttering also looking to add window cleaning (water Fed pole looks interesting) But would need some advice on these bits and Pieces.

Does anybody have any views on hiring equipment and in general, is it worthwhile for the average job?

Thanks

Alan Rowley

Congratulations on taking such a brave step at your age. I wish I had done it earlier instead of waiting until I was 54.  :o

One word of advice I would give you is specialise. Don't try to do everything or you will cost yourself a small fortune in equipment and insurance. Select one region to target and become proficient at that, don't try to be a 'Jack of all trades'.

Good luck and keep us informed how you get on. You've got some bottle!

Thanks - Any advice appreciated!

To much bottle not enough brains probably!!!

Yes i wanted to Specialise in Cleaning, Effectively having different types of Cleaning isn't being a jack of All Trades and gives you a bigger scope.

I'm looking at Domestic Garden work to get my Foot in the door, and so i don't have to worry about steady flow of Cash (small, but still Cash) then hopefully cash in on the odd decent cleaning job.

With all the attatchments and Poles etc I was just looking at getting the most out of my equipment.

forget domestic and go for commercial contract cleaning, thats def where the proper money is and its regular unlike the domestics who will drop you when they get a bit skint.  ;D

Yeh that's the idea, although i'm not really sure how to go about getting a commercial Contract to be honest, or what services to offer and what price

Not sure if anyone else on here knows?

Thanks
