I bet its plain on the other side ;) with the carcuss being of the same plain fabric. I cleaned one of this style on Sunday, I hate putting a name to fabrics ( because some clever clogs always says its something else and makes me look daft) but I'd say its dralon.

the funny thing about the face fabric is when its damp it show the backing so has a black tinge to it which can be mistaken for dirt, so you spend ages trying to clean it off.

HWE it with no problems ( after appropriate testing ;) )

You should attend the CCDO where identifying upholstery is one of the issues to be discussed.  ;)

By the way this may have some viscose in it as well otherwise with usual tests normal extraction cleaning is fine.

Mike is right giving it a name proves nothing, its all about experience and testing in my book, that said does look like draylon which means all should go well.

But testing with permission on area out of the way will provide more insight than any visual or burn test, that said seen as you wanted to know what it was why didnt you burn test? if your not aware how im sure somebody will provide a link to a burn test chart, as i know iv seen links to one on here before.

ive cleaned 1000s of these things and it should of come up like new , always tell the custy about the wear on the arms befour doing them and look out for little tuffs that have come way in time apart from that theres easy

and if you need to test one of these suites you need to find something else to do ! of corse its darlon  ::)

these have been out over 25 years now i can remember doing one like this for my frist ever suite when i was 15  ;D

It is Acrylic velvet for sure, whether it is 'Beyer Dralon' is another matter. Genuine Dralon is a very expensive material so manufacturers make their own Acrylic velvet copies that are cheaper, though everyone calls them Dralon. Just like people call vacuum cleaners Hoovers. Still they all clean up just as well with HWE.

You cant ever know for sure what most upholstery is as theres so many blends, Daves right it an acrylic velvet, Drylons an old brand name.

Easier to know what it is not, lol, like viscose cus a piled viscose will go horribly wrong if wet cleaned, flat viscose is wet cleanable though.
