Price for Pub Cleaning
« on: July 03, 2007, 02:27:52 pm »
Hi all,
I have been asked by a pub I clean the windows for, to make an offer for the 7 x weekly floor cleaning, 2 Hours per clean. What should I charge per hour, thinking of paying the cleaner 6.5 an hour and on sundays 10. Any advice welcome.

This isn't an area that window cleaners on this side of the forum are going to be able to help you with, which was why Trevor moved it into the other section.

It can be quite a specialised area, but if all they need is a general cleaner to mop and wash the floors that is different.

I'd say charge whatever you see fit, paying the cleaner something between £6.50 and £7.50 seems reasonable, and time and a half on a sunday is ok too I suppose.

It is more what you are going to put on top.

You should be supplying the chemicals and equipment too, and what happens when  whoever you get to do the job (not an easy thing I might add) is either ill or wants time off, the odds are the won't want to do 7 consecutive days either, they are sure to want at least one day off a week.

Personally I wouldn't be interested in this kind of contract! Too much hassle!!!

Pubs a re a pain!!
If it is a sweep/hoover and a good mop you need to be looking at paying £7ph and prob nearer to £12/13 on Sun. What you need to think about is would you go out mon to sat for £13? I know I would not. And would you get out of bed on a Sunday for £22? I doubt that either.
Usually when quoting I would allow extrra time so if they the cleaner always feels like they have a bit extra. As a price to them I would prob price it at about £13ph for the 6 days and at about £18 for the Sunday.

Hope that helps.

wouldnt bother, they are an absolute nightmare to get the money out of and trying to get staff for what they want to pay is just as bad - I've been there

I've been there

So have i - and it still comes down to what type of floor which hasn't been answered yet :-\

But nowadays for a simple hoover/mop i would turn it down or put in a high price of around £25.00 an hour 7 days a week and pay a cleaner £15 an hour 7 days a week

Put a quote in of £35.00 per hour if they are paying cash, if you have to invoice, then charge them £50.00 per hour.

Remember that you will become liable for tax-nat ins- holiday and employers insurance, also if they don't turn up, then you might have too.
