hi just would like to know if this is a bit of not a thing to do?
a cleaning contractor died suddenly in my area lately and i know some of his contracts, do you think i should contact his contracts and try to get them or is too early?

Well if you dont, someone else will and you'll regret it.
Not to sound harsh or unsympathetic but this is business, the clients will need someone to take over why not it be you?
