Saved water today
« on: June 01, 2007, 05:48:09 pm »
Tried a different method of cleaning today and saved loads of water. I used my flocked Bentley superlight brush as usual but turned my water flow right down and used the brush to push the flow back up the glass whilst scrubbing not letting the water down to the sill untill I was ready to rinse. This was on light maintenance cleans and I'm unsure of the results - yet. However I seem to have halved my water usage.

I know a couple of Stateside wfpers that wet the window then turn the flow off and scrub then turn it back on and rinse, like Spain etc they have real dirty sandy/salty glass.

Its worth following your idea through and perfecting it if possible, if if it can save you water it could save money from making and carrying less. A smaller tank could go a long way.

Maybe its a bit like fascia cleaning with chemicals, I was taught to start at the bottom and then rinse downwards to prevent dirt/chemical run marks.

Also, I used microfibre cloths to do the inside of a conservatory with a spray cleaner, again I hven't seen the results but if microfibre is as good as the manufacturers would like us to believe could it be used in conjunction with just a mist of pure water followed by rinsing? I don't know maybe you could use half a dozen quick change pads and have a few dirty ones soaking in a container of water to release the dirt?

On downstairs windows i wet the window quickly, then turn the flow off, scrub then rinse. And yes this does save water, not seen or had any complaints.

Well you can't see waterfed results till it drys. You couldn't see the conservatory results untill the rain stopped and the sun came out. As it didn't stop raining and I haven't been back I don't know how the clean went.

A trigger on the pole is even better.

No water flow walking between windows & control over water flow while cleaning the window. Its rare i use 200ltrs in a day.

Hi Mike.

I use Tucker Pole but they are not fitted with triggers. I fitted a numatic trigger to the pole. I will take a pic tomorrow & post it up. Its easy to fit to any pole & saves loads of water.
