hi just wondering how often you guys and gals change your squegee rubber and what is the best way to change it as since i have changed mine it keeps leaveing smears and does not look tight in the channel any help apreciated

Hi Leee   Ive still not  found a clear benefit from having a pristine rubber , Ive  run them till they are raged  at the ends , just put a new one in this morning and there apparently no huge difference , I wasnt getting lines before and none now .
 Or maybe I just need  to look closer

i use a sharp razor to cut them about 1-2mm bigger than the channel, if your having problems getting into the corner slice a tiny tiny slice off the corner of the rubber

i change it when it needs it, when i nick it or its worn round, usually once a month, but sometimes ive put a new  one in, done a few wooden (grrrr) windows and snagged it

Over the years I have used three or four different makes of blade and keep comming back to Pulex.

I cut them about 4-6mm longer than the channel so they stick out 2-3mm either end. I use quick release stainless steel squegees, the type with the teeth that grip the blade through holes in the lower part of the channel.

I use two squeegees, one of which is 25-30mm shorter than the other. I use one side of the blade for 1-2 days and then turn it over and do the same with the other side. I then cut the ends off and put it in the shorter sqeegee and replace the blade in the larger squeegee with a new one. This way I've always got a backup and I'm always working with fresh blades which I find dramatically reduces the amount of detaling I have to do thus saving time which in turn earns me more in a day.
