WFP first timer - low pressure
« on: May 02, 2007, 01:15:55 pm »
Hi all

Hope someone can help me  ???

I took delivery of my WFP setup & yesterday tried to fill the tank without much success  :(

Here is a picture of what I have http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l265/hydra_02/tank.jpg

That thing after the 1st pressure gauge is a solenoid switch.
When I first connected up my water hose to the system there is a burst of water to the system & then it stops, giving me a pressure gauge reading of 35psi on the 1st gauge & 0 on the other, I'm thinking this is the solenoid so I removed it to troubleshoot the problem.
After I removed the solenoid I connected the hose again & got a reading of 10psi on the 1st pressure gauge & about 2psi on the 2nd one  :-[

I've just got off the phone from a mate who is a plumber & he tells me this is normal, I'd probably get 12psi max as the water system in Dublin is 250 years old  ::) I then asked him about a booster pump & he told me it was illegal  >:( He then rambled on about some expensive jacuzzi system I could get to increase the pressure but told me it wouldn't be cheap.

What are my options here guys ??? Will 10psi be ok or will I damage something? And how long will it take to fill a 650 ltr tank with that sort of pressure???

Please help, my head is wrecked here  :(

Please tell me that thing is not in your van and held down by those cheap orange straps. If it is you could very easilly have nothing to worry about..  EVER!!

This is a genuine reaciton, Your system looks good but it wont be any good to you in the event of a shunt.

I bought the system this time last week & I'm still waiting on the fittings to properly install the cage to the floor, they were supposed to come with the system but the bloke I got it off forgot them & promised to post them, still waiting.

I only wanted to put a few litres in to see if everything is running smoothly while I'm waiting on the missing parts. I was hoping to be up & running weeks ago but I keep hitting brick walls  >:(

you nee water pressure of at least  40 psi.you will need a booster pump.you can allso call the water board dont tell them what you are doing just tell them your water pressure is bad.by law they have to deliver 22liters per min to your boundrey.this will make it better and will be free but you will need this pump.

hear is i link hope this helps

I honestly wasnt trying to belittle him. The system looks quite good. I was just concrened for his safety. Also why dont you just call your supplier about this?  Any decent one would get you sorted.

Don't be daft.
My tank is held down with ratchet straps rated at over 1000lbs each.

It won't go anywhere, and nor will your's if it's the same.

Don't listen to the so-called "pros" mate. ::)

My supplier was having a problem with his email which I didn't realise, I've been speaking to him since my last post and he's going to get me sorted.

Thanks for the replies anyway lads, hopefully I'll be up & running soon, I'll probably need to go with a pump, anyway, I'll see what the supplier says.
